Week Twenty-Three and Onward: Handover and Moving in

A month since the last post... sorry! Been rather busy, as you can imagine!

Handover was done at the end of the 23rd week. A few bank hiccups but Wisdom were ready to hand over the keys. Walk-through went well, some minor defects with paint work etc which will be attended to.

We've been in for three weeks now. Settled and mostly unpacked. First two weeks were moving and unpacking, third week was spent levelling and top-soiling the yard. Turf will be delivered this Thursday after a false start last week (damn rain!).

I've included some pics of the inside with furniture. I'll post one more time when the landscaping is finished.

Cheers and thanks for following our journey!

Week Twenty-Two: Carpet, Waterfall Edges, Driveway Sealed and PCI Booked In

And we're finished. Done. Kaput. The house is complete,  just needs a clean.

We're so thrilled with the finish and quality. Looks absolutely amazing! The carpets were in by Monday of this week. There were people onsite throughout the week sealing the driveway (Gunmetal Grey) and the kitchen bench tops were finally finished on Saturday morning.

We were allowed in to take pictures and it looks simply beautiful. Really happy with how the colours have come together.

The black protective covering on the floors now need to be removed, and house will need a thorough clean before handover.

Wisdom have been in contact and our Practical Completion Inspection is booked in for Wednesday. I assumed that it would be another week or two before handover, but if the PCI goes well, we may end up heading over to head office to sign the paperwork and we'll receive our keys. Wasn't expecting that!

Appliances will be installed at a time to be arranged after handover.

Week Twenty-One: Driveway Poured, Timber-Look Flooring Installed, Kitchen Splashback & Shelving

Another busy week :-)

We had a fair few things happening, but very impressed with the speed.

Driveway was poured at the beginning of the week. Driveway will need to be sealed next week. It's looking great! Our back step has also been poured.

We weren't expecting the flooring to start until the following week, but lo and behold, the laminate was completed by Friday. It looks amazing, we're really happy with it!

Splashback also appeared towards the end of the week, as did the shelving in all the pantries and cupboards.

Only carpet and kitchen waterfall edges to go. Rubbing hands together with glee... Some photos.

Week Twenty: Shower Screens, Mirrors, Air Conditioning, Driveway Prep

And we're still moving along...

We had the shower screens and mirrors installed on Monday of this week. The air conditioning unit was installed as well, including the ceiling vents.

I went past on Friday and the earth movers had been in, digging out the driveway ready to start the following Monday (tomorrow).

We also found out that they have installed the wrong electrical thing-a-me-jig (don't you love my technical jargon?). Something to do with phase power? Anyhow, it should be rectified soon.

We can expect the driveway this week, which I'm really looking forward to. The flooring, kitchen splashback and waterfall bench will be the last things completed. A few days later we will do our walk through. Our site supervisor is expecting that we'll have our keys in three weeks if there aren't any major problems, or four weeks if they've stuffed up!

Happy days!

Week Nineteen: Painting, Rainwater Tank

Huge painting week this week. Painters have been in every day applying the third coat to the walls. The alfresco ceiling has been painted, as well as the front door and the cedar cladding.

We had to choose the best available stain as none were really what we wanted. The door /cladding stain is called "Rosewood" and it was the closest option to the timber-look garage door.  We were concerned it would look a little orange.

It does indeed. It's not hideous, but down the track we'll definitely sand it back and retain a little darker, closer to the caoba stain.

The gutters have been painted, as well as the power-box.

Next week will be shower screens, glass splash back, air conditioning installed and touch-ups.

The week after that will be driveway.

Following week will be flooring and carpet. The walk-through will happen soon after.

Our SS has given us a rough timeframe, and it looks probable that we should have the keys by the third or fourth week of November.

Homeward bound....

Week Eighteen: Plumbing, Alarm System, Measuring and Caesarstone

We had trades in on Thursday and Friday today.

The bath has arrived and it looks magnificent. Really thrilled with it. The shower, tap ware and bath spout are installed, as are the toilets in both bathrooms.

The back-to-base alarm has been installed, and the display console is switched on.

Our caesarstone island bench has arrived and is ready to roll. Just have to wait on the flooring.

The glass splash back people arrived and measured up this week.

We've ordered our plantation shutters from a local company and we're looking at 6-8 weeks until installation. Our driveway will start on the seventh of November.

All systems go! Some photos...
